Welcome to In Pursuit of Beautiful Meaning!

Hello! My name is Nur, and I’m happy to see you here! I always try to see some sort of beauty and meaning behind everything I look at; that’s where the name comes from.

In this newsletter, you can expect 3 to 4 articles a month. It could be:

  1. A Productivity Tip (tested and effective). I’m a natural 5-6 am person who enjoys making the most out of my time without overwhelm, so the methods I recommend are not for gurus, but for normal people who like waking up late from time to time, because we are not robots.

  2. A Film/TV Show Recommendation. I work in TV Distribution, and one of the responsibilities of my job, apart from the usual spreadsheet work, is watching new shows! Yes, some people are paid to watch TV!

  3. A Book Review. I mostly read classics, modern classics, and postmodern books, and I am open to reading many things except for "time-passer" bestsellers. I’m an intense person who loves intense novels.

  4. A Creative Reflection. It could be about something I think can only be seen through my eyes. I like to express the interesting overlaps in life I see as someone who was born in Izmir, grew up in Istanbul, lives in London, and works in creative spaces with an engineer’s hat.

I write this Newsletter to:

  1. Build a community. To gather people who love the magic of curiosity, where learning across different fields overlaps and leads to unexpected insights. People who are always seeking improvement in themselves and are culture enthusiasts. I’m only at the beginning now, but eventually, I want to create a community where we can exchange thoughts. I led a poetry club at uni, where I gathered members' poems anonymously. During our weekly tea talks, we shared our thoughts on the poems without fear of offending anyone. I want to adapt a similar idea in the future, and I am open to suggestions!

  2. Express observations. Ever since I’ve known myself, I’ve been obsessed with expressing myself and being amazed with an open mouth to see how some people will never understand you, while others can read your mind with a glance. The differences among people always spark my curiosity.

  3. Recommend the books/TV/Film/Productivity Tip that brought beauty into my life. Multi-criteria decision-making was not just a course I took at university; it's how I live. I overthink quickly; that’s how my brain works. Perhaps it’s a skill that's a side effect of cooking in a Turkish household, where you learn to make 3-4 dishes in 40-50 minutes without leaving a mess, I don’t know. I have an Excel sheet for my book reading list, a watchlist for films and TV, and whenever I hear a recommendation, I immediately check and add it if I like it. All of this is to say, I’m not a random reader, watcher, or productivity tip adopter; everything I recommend here is the result of hours of analysis.

I hope you’ll enjoy this newsletter, and I’d be happy if I can make you smile, contribute to your productive journey, or help you find your next favourite TV show/ book!
